At 16 months Caleb got his first week at grandmas. Simon was 23 months when he did this the first time. It was a little hard for me because I’ve really never left him, two overnights and that’s it. We traveled more with Simon so he had a few more 1-2 night stints before the big week. I have to say he did great. We flew in Saturday night to give us all of Sunday and Monday to transition. Caleb and I got to shop with Aunt Em, visit Uncle Clint in Madison, see Mom-mom and Katie and Cy. Lots of family fun and the cousins are finally big enough to play together. Cy is almost exactly one year older than Caleb.
Then I started work and Mom took Caleb on a visit to grandma’s house. I don’t think he missed me either. As the second child it isn’t often he gets to do whatever he wants, when ever he wants, and for as long as he wants. Friday’s visit definitely took a few minutes for him to warm up to me. These are the pics I was sent each day. That definitely helped me stay focused.
I nursed him a few times on our short visit, but I didn’t have to pump on the 3.5 days and 2.5 days away. I think we’ve entered the active weaning process. It is really nice though to know we can be apart and both of us are fine.
